The EDM Wave :
Over the course of the last 7-8 years, EDM has been running on an all time high. The formerly underground genre turned magnificently public with the rise of artists like David Morales and David Guetta.
Take David Guetta for example. With tunes ranging from ‘I Gotta Feeling’ to ‘Sexy Bitch’, David Guetta, as Afrojack puts it, showed the world that Pop music can be infused into Dance music and Dance music can be infused into Pop Music.

Although some of the concepts in EDM, with respect to sound especially, do remain amazingly cohesive as a unit, its the melody that is fast becoming unchained, more complicated and built over multiple layers of synths and other sounds.
Another startling feature of EDM is the Show itself. Every single EDM gig, whether its Swedish House Mafia’s Masquerade Motel or the Tomorrowland festival, each and every show is a treat to the senses. With multiple attractions such as dancers and outrageously brilliant props, in addition to over 50,000 kicking and screaming fans moving to the music, the EDM is a space shuttle which is going only one way :
Upwards.

Even if we look at the last 3 years, for example, the array of EDM stars who have emerged is way more than the number of big rock bands. With artists ranging from Avicii, Alesso, Afrojack, Otto Knows, Matisse & Sadko, the growth, to be very true, is simply fanatical and staggering !
Also, the world is no longer in need of another ‘rock voice’, so to speak. We had Bob Dylan in the 60’s to Nirvana in the 90’s. It is simply my opinion that EDM is the new voice and it is not just the commercial tracks that are killing the International scene but its the underground artists, more importantly, who give the big label artists a run for their money.
